Objectives:
A growing body of literature on the 2019 novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is becoming available, but a synthesis of available data has not been conducted. Therefore, this review article has been conducted.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19 or SARS-CoV-2 infection?

Study design:
This review article included a total of 61 studies with 59,254 patients.

Results and conclusions:
The investigators found the most common disease-related symptoms of covid-19 infection were:
-fever [82%, 95% CI = 56% to 99%, n = 4,410]
-cough [61%, 95% CI = 39% to 81%, n = 3,985]
-muscle aches and/or fatigue [36%, 95% CI = 18% to 55%, n = 3,778]
-dyspnea [26%, 95% CI = 12% to 41%, n = 3,700]
-headache [12%, 95% CI = 4% to 23%, n = 3,598]
-sore throat [10%, 95% CI = 5% to 17%, n = 1,387] and
-gastrointestinal symptoms [9%, 95% CI = 3% to 17%, n = 1,744).

The investigators found laboratory findings were described in a lower number of patients and revealed lymphopenia [0.93 × 109/L, 95% CI = 0.83 to 1.03 × 109/L, n = 464] and abnormal C-reactive protein [33.72 mg/dL, 95% CI = 21.54 to 45.91 mg/dL, n = 1,637].

The investigators found all-cause mortality was 0.3% [95% CI = 0.0% to 1.0%, n = 53,631].

The investigators found epidemiological studies showed that mortality was higher in males and elderly patients.

The investigators concluded the most common disease-related symptoms of covid-19 infection are fever, cough, muscle aches and/or fatigue, dyspnea, headache, sore throat and gastrointestinal symptoms. Furthermore, the mortality is higher in males and elderly patients.
