Patients with diabetes should be advised to continue taking metformin drugs despite COVID-19 infection status

Objectives:
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused a significant impact on all aspects of life. One of the comorbidities associated with severe outcome and mortality of COVID-19 is diabetes. Metformin is one of the drugs which is most commonly used for the treatment of diabetes patients. Therefore, this review article has been conducted.

Infection risk of COVID-19 of household contacts is 10 times higher than other contacts

Objectives:
What is the rate of transmission of COVID-19 within households?

Study design:
This review article included 10 retrospective cohort studies, 1 prospective study and 13 case ascertainment studies. Most studies (19/24) were conducted in China, with 2 in South Korea, 2 in the USA and 1 in Germany.
All the studies were conducted between Jan 1 and March 31, 2020.

Results and conclusions:

Primaquine's transmission-blocking effects are achieved with 0.25 mg/kg primaquine

Objectives:
Since the World Health Organization recommended single low-dose (0.25mg/kg) primaquine (PQ) in combination with artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs) in areas of low transmission or artemisinin-resistant P. falciparum, several single-site studies have been conducted to assess its efficacy. Therefore, this review article has been conducted.

Coronavirus infection is more likely to affect pregnant women

Objectives:
Coronavirus is challenging the global health care system from time to time. The pregnant state, with alterations in hormone levels and decreased lung volumes due to a gravid uterus and slightly immunocompromised state may predispose patients to a more rapidly deteriorating clinical course and can get a greater risk of harm for both the mother and fetus. Therefore, this review article has been conducted.
